Bernie Moreno, a political figure and entrepreneur, posted a series of statements on his social media account on February 25 and 26, 2026, addressing both domestic politics and U.S. foreign policy actions.
On February 25, Moreno made two posts. In the first, he wrote: “American hero vs. American zero.” Later that day, he commented on a Washington DC figure by stating: “He’s more accurately described in Washington DC, by people of both sides of the aisle, as uniquely unlikable, unmistakably rude, and perfectly unable to accomplish much.”
The following day, Moreno shifted focus to international matters. On February 26, he wrote: “America First means hitting anyone who harms our people with maximum force. @USTreasury’s inclusion of the Nicaraguan regime on the OFAC list allow us to hold drug traffickers and their enablers accountable.”
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is a financial intelligence and enforcement agency within the U.S. Department of the Treasury responsible for administering and enforcing economic sanctions against foreign states and organizations involved in activities such as terrorism or drug trafficking. When an entity is added to the OFAC list, it becomes subject to asset freezes and restrictions on doing business with U.S. persons.
Moreno’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about how best to address transnational crime and maintain U.S. national security through sanctions programs.
